At altitudes between 1000 and 1500 metres there is a risk of ice storms!
Rain rapidly worsening the situation
At altitudes above 1200 metres, the risk of avalanches is high. Even large avalanches are spontaneously triggered.
Snowpack
dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind
New snow accumulates on top of the frozen old snow cover, which puts a huge additional strain. At a depth of about 20 cm, there is a weak shear layer in the old snow, which is breaking up in many places due to the additional load.
Tendency
On the steepest slopes, a small creep of new snow can be triggered. A small avalanche of dry, packed snow can be triggered when snow drifts are loaded on steep slopes. Even small avalanches can cause a loss of balance and a fall into an abyss. Especially on shady slopes above 2400 m, a small or medium-sized avalanche can be triggered by a heavy load. Especially on shady slopes above 2400 m, a small or medium sized landslide can be triggered by a high load.
