In the altitude range between 1000 and 1500 m, there is a risk of ice storms!

The situation is deteriorating rapidly due to rainfall

The risk of avalanches above 1200 m is high. Avalanches, even large ones, will erupt spontaneously.

Snowpack

dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind

New snow accumulates on top of the old frozen snow cover, which puts a huge additional strain. At a depth of about 20 cm, there is a weak layer of sheared grains in the old snow, which will break up in many places as a result of the additional load.

Tendency

After the precipitation ends, a strong northerly wind will blow, transporting the new snow and creating drifts, especially on the southern slopes. The risk will remain high at level 4 for the time being.

The risk will increase slightly due to rainfall

Newly fallen snow will mostly stick well to the ground, except above the tree line where wind will build up snow drifts. There, even a small additional load can trigger an avalanche.
